Here we go: my new gravel bike just arrived

Finally I got the vehicle for my trip across America. First time ever I rode a gravel bike and I have to say it is pretty relaxing upright position compared to a regular road bike. The speed on roads however was pretty slow. I guess it depends a lot on the tires. Just bought some fast tires with less grip. I am sure that will make my average speed much better.

Many people tell me don't worry about the speed just enjoy. BUT I want to avoid riding in darkness. So I need to do my distances during daylight, therefor speed is for sure a factor.

First trip: very exciting to go off road

Gravel opens an entire new world of off road cycling. Really looking forward to the US tour
